about our services

  • Do I need to show my ID?

Individual guests are not asked to show their ID. Parents/Guardians with children are required to show the ID of their children (to see their date of birth) to be registered.

  • Is it free?

Yes. Chalmers provides services free of charge to all guests.

  • I don't have a fixed address or a proof of income, can I visit?

We do not require documentation of a fixed address or proof of income from our guests.

  • I have mobility issues, do you deliver food?

Unfortunately, we do not deliver food.

  • I need my pants mended. Can you help?

We offer mending services at our main location (41 Macdonell St.) on Wednesdays 6:30 PM- 8:00 PM and Friday 10:00 AM-12:00 noon. There is a limit of 1 item maximum per family per month.

  • We are a family with kids, what do you offer?

We offer food and hygiene products for a maximum of one parent/guardian and three kids. If there is another parent/guardian, they will receive portions for themselves.

  • I have more than 3 kids, how many portions can I receive for them?

Unfortunately, there is a limit of 4 portions (one adult and 3 children).

  • I have dietary restrictions, what food do you offer?

Let us know what your dietary restrictions are, and we will do our best to accommodate them. We cannot guarantee that our food is allergy free.

  • Do you offer your services in languages other than English?

Several members of our team and volunteers speak multiple languages.

  • I'm a guest but I am interested in joining Chalmers as a volunteer, is it possible?

We take volunteer applications through our Chalmers website. You can also ask our Program and Volunteer Manager in person.

  • Do you offer clothing?

We primarily support the provision of food and hygiene products. Our partner, Three Willows Church, offers access to clothing during our pantry days at the West location (577 Willow Road).
