A Walk in the Woods by Joan Holben.
Born in Ottawa, Joan Holben resided in Eastern Canada until 1963. Joan’s world travels took her to India where she remained for four years while setting up technical training programs in the state of Punjab. Upon returning to Canada, she set up her first studio while she attended Queen’s University, and later Sheridan College. She created art programs and taught in Elementary and Secondary schools until accepting a position of coordinator of visual arts at St. Lawrence College in Brockville. Joan also created and taught functional art programs for teachers at Central Technical School in Toronto. She traveled extensively across Canada, residing for a time in British Columbia where she established herself as a major new talent. Joan moved to Toronto in 1979. Joan was a resident artist for Demco Inc. in Montreal and a working artist for Golden U.S.A for twenty years. She has conducted many solo shows and is represented in many personal collections in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Africa and Eastern Europe. Her work is included in the collection at the prestigious Arts and Letters Club. She currently resides in Guelph.
